1. Responsible for determining the visual style that will be used to create set pieces in the film.
2. Communicates and negotiates with the film producer over the budget required to achieve the director’s vision.
3. Read scripts to identify what visual style is most appropriate.
4. Must research and scout out filming locations.
5. Makes certain that the designs work with sound, lighting, special effects, and digital visual effects elements.
